Route Map
This walk starts at Cathedral Square off Castle Street (postcode G4 0UZ) and continues around the heart of ancient Glasgow, around the Necropolis and Cathedral and the oldest house in Glasgow, Provand’s Lordship. Our walk finishes by taking you past some of Glasgow’s city centre Universities and Colleges. The complete walk is approximately 3 kilometres.
Some of the area is on level ground for example the area around Glasgow Cathedral and the access bridge across to the Necropolis. However the full walk involves steps, cobbles, some hills and grassy areas so would not be accessible for all. If you feel you can’t join the walk then please enjoy the many photographs and links on the website.
Parking is available at Cathedral Precinct Car park 2 – 40 Cathedral St, Glasgow G4 0RD or further down John Knox Street you may find further parking options.
Public transport: A number of buses leave from the city centre and pass near to the cathedral. The nearest train station is Glasgow High Street. You can find up to date information on buses and trains from Traveline Scotland’s website, First Bus Glasgow or National Rail Enquiries.
