Glasgow Eurowalk 3 – West End Wander (3 or 5km)

This 3 kilometre walk is a pleasant walk around the West End of Glasgow and takes in the Botanic Gardens area. Some interesting highlights of Glasgow’s European links can be enjoyed on the route.

If you wish to extend the walk to a 5km walk, walk along the River Kelvin to the Forth & Clyde Canal at Maryhill Locks and then back again to continue our circular West End Walk.

Accessibility

The circular walk is a long 3 km and involves some uphill and downhill sections and steps. You need to be confident in walking on and off pavements and negotiating steps etc. There are opportunities for refreshments and toilet facilities at the Botanic Gardens or at one of the many cafes and restaurants in the area. If you feel you can’t join the walk then please enjoy the many photographs and links on the website.

If you extend the walk to take in the Forth & Clyde Canal then the walk is 5km.

Getting There

Parking is available in the streets around the Botanic Gardens – some metered, some not so. The RingGo App is worth downloading to your phone in advance as much of the parking in Glasgow works with this App and it avoids the need to have the correct change with you.

Public transport: The Hillhead Subway Station brings you to Byres Road near the start of this walk. There are also numerous bus services along Great Western Road. You can find up to date information on buses and trains from Traveline Scotland’s website, First Bus Glasgow or National Rail Enquiries.
