A few hundred metres along Troqueer Road from Rosefield Mills is Troqueer Parish Church. Given its proximity to the Norwegian billets at the mills, the church became one of the principal places of worship for the Norwegian community in the town. On their departure from Dumfries, Norwegian forces presented the church a baptismal font as a parting gift engraved with:
“To Troqueer Church
In gratitude
From the Norwegian Army
When exiled from our own country
We found in this House of God
Peace and Strength”
